UWYC is proud to have dedicated local innovators and community champions on our staff. They work to support the United Way mission: to improve lives and build strong communities throughout Yavapai County.

Nina Seim - Finance and Program Director
Nina is originally from Chicago but has called Prescott home since 1997. Between 2002 and 2009, Nina and her mother, Christiana owned Matter of Flax, LLC., a raw food manufacturing company. During the seven years of owning and operating the company, Nina gained a wide variety of experience regarding staff management, product development, marketing, and bookkeeping. In 2013, Nina decided to shift gears and go to college to pursue a degree. She started at UWYC in the spring of 2017 as an intern during her final year at NAU in Prescott Valley, where she earned a B.S. degree in Applied Human Behavior and certificate in Business Leadership and Management. Over the past five years her role at UWYC has grown to Finance and Community Investment Manager, which includes program management. Her and her husband, Brent, met in 2002 and have been fortunate to raise their son, Asher and daughter, Ariana surrounded by family and friends. She enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family and three dogs.

Kristie Bandy - Community Impact and Education Coordinator

Michele Tyburek-Administrative Assistant and Volunteer and Events Lead
Michele has a great family consisting of her loving husband that she has been with for over a decade, and her 3 beautiful dogs.
She is a patriot for the Prescott community and loves to constantly show her support through shopping and eating local. She even has her own food blog!
In her spare time, Michele loves to create art through nature, read, and spend time in the community.
UWYC Board of Directors
UWYC’s Board of Directors is made up of volunteers, including community and business leaders. The Board supports the work of the organization and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. UWYC is honored to work with this esteemed group of individuals who continuously work to support the mission of UWYC.

Mary Ann Suttles - Board President
Meet Mary Ann Suttles, a servant of the people. Having lived in Prescott over forty years, Mrs. Suttles served on the Prescott City Council for three terms. She has been involved in community leadership efforts ever since.
Mrs. Suttles and her late husband, Ken, raised two sons in Prescott, Corey and Ryan, who attended Prescott schools. She enjoys photographing her extended family members, including grandchildren; Max age 22, Emily age 20, Carter age 18, and Kendall age 13.
Mary Ann hosts a radio show on Friday mornings from 8-9am on local radio KYCA. She also serves our community on multiple boards. She serves on the Yavapai County Republican Women of Prescott, she is the co-chair for the Adult Center of Prescott, a member of the Prescott Frontier Days’ board and the Community Development Block Grant board with the City of Prescott. In addition to all of these other community organizations, Mary Ann serves as our Board President.
We are very proud to highlight her in this issue and to extend our deepest thanks for the wonderful leadership and wealth of experience she provides to United Way of Yavapai County.

Michelle Kessler - Vice Presiden
Michelle is a second-generation miner who grew up in Idaho before moving to Arizona during high school. She and her husband Rob both work for Freeport-McMoRan and have spent the last fifteen years at various FMI locations in both Arizona and New Mexico. They moved to FMI’s Bagdad location in December of 2016, where she enjoys her role as the Human Resources Manager.
In her spare time, you can find her baking, attending concerts, and spending time with her husband and dogs in the mountains in their Jeep. She is an animal lover who has fostered dogs and cats for several years for humane societies and various rescue organizations. This is Michelle’s first board position and she is excited for the opportunity to make an impact with our organization and our communities.

Meredith Dunlap - Board Member
Meredith Dunlap is Senior Vice President, Northern Arizona Regional Manager for National Bank of Arizona. She has been in the financial services industry for 25 years. She is responsible for 19 branches in Northern Arizona.
She is an Arizona native, born and raised in Dewey. She is actively involved in the communities in Northern Arizona and encourages her teams to be just as involved. Volunteering is something Meredith is passionate about. She strives to inspire our youth of today to be our leaders of tomorrow. She enjoys speaking to teens about leadership and financial literacy.
She currently holds a Board of Directors position with the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce as well as United Way of Yavapai County.

Katie Kinon-Board Treasurer

JoAnne Hilde-Board Secretary
After relocating to Phoenix for Ron’s work, JoAnne continued to advocate for children and schools through the Arizona Leadership Academy faculty, serving as founding president of the Arizona Center for After School Excellence and founding The Education Coalition. JoAnne worked on initiatives and political campaigns where funding for schools was the focus issue. JoAnne served on the Arizona State Board of Education for four years and continued to serve the National Association of State Boards for eight years as a mentor for new state board members from around the nation.
JoAnne’s business ventures included AAA Employment in Prescott and Search Solutions which assisted Arizona school boards with community-based searches for superintendents. This was fulfilling as all stakeholders in a community were involved in meaningful ways.
Currently, JoAnne is Chair of the State Council of Arizona AdvancED, facilitator for The Education Coalition and of course, she serves on the Board of United Way of Yavapai County.
Ron and JoAnne who returned to Prescott in 1993 have six grandchildren who are truly their passion for the future. We are truly blessed to have JoAnne Hilde serve on our Board!

Jim Orrey-Board Member
I started in the inventory finance business with Borg Warner Acceptance Company, and
then Transamerica Commercial Finance. By 1990, I moved with my family to Oregon, outside of the Eugene area. I worked as an Area Finance Manager for Agricredit Acceptance Company during our time there.
My first bank job came about when my family moved up to the Seattle, WA. area. I worked almost 5 years for Key Bank, and then after that, I got started with WA FD Bank. I have been with WAFD for 13 Years, and have worked out of the Prescott Valley branch for 5 years.

Scott Lewis - Board Member
Scott Lewis is a senior lecturer and administrator with the Strategic Leadership Program at Northern Arizona University, which helps students and professionals develop the mindset, behavior and tools that every great leader needs to succeed. He had led workshops based on this program for the UWYC Center for Organizational Excellence.
After many years in the corporate world, Scott turned his talents to teaching so that he could share his expertise with students and have more time to be with his family. He and wife Mayumi have two sons and a daughter.
The entire family, which moved to Prescott from northern Idaho in 2011, is active in volunteering in the community, specifically at their church and Special Olympic golf. Scott joined the UWYC Board in spring of 2021.
“I was drawn to United Way because I know what they do in the community, the impact they make,” he said. “The beautiful thing is that when you support the United Way, you know it’s local and it’s effective. You can see it from the list of organizations they support.”

Kara Langley - Board Member
Kara D. Langley is Chief Operations Officer and Compliance Officer for Polara Health. She has a background in accounting and has been in healthcare management for over 25 years.
She is a native of Arizona who moved to Prescott with her husband and three children in 2006. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and friends.
