The UWYC Board of Directors has created a long-term vision that allows us to weather any financial climate. This will help to ensure our ability to respond to the community’s needs for many years. As always, we will continue to provide many opportunities for our service providers to create programs that fill gaps in services, that are innovative and are themselves sustainable in the long run.
Our generous donor, Mr. Daniel H. Roberts, was not only an honored Veteran of World War 2, but a survivor of 3.5 years as a Prisoner of War. The Japanese captured Mr. Roberts, holding him in prison camps in the Philippines and China. Because of his enormous service and sacrifice to our country, we will be honoring his legacy with an annual Veteran Scholarship fund.
These scholarships will be available to Veterans who had an honorable or general discharge; who reside in Yavapai County; who are or will be attending a Yavapai County college or trade school; and who can demonstrate a financial need.
We are pleased to launch the Veteran Scholarship Fund in March 2020, in honor of Mr. Roberts’ legacy and as a reminder of the enormous impact he has created for improving lives in Yavapai County.
